Carina Fernandes is a sparkling Renaissance woman whose creativity is a vehicle of revolution. She is known for her bubbly energy – radiating Caribbean Soul & Sunshine!
Inspired by heritage, de-colonial movements and city life she is an all-round creative whose work aims to initiate intergenerational conversations for a more inclusive world.

AS A MUSICIAN….
Mixing Soul, Funk & Spoken Word her sound is like: nostalgia, a summer holiday and the lovechild of Sade, Amy Winehouse and Prince with a hint of Macy Gray and Lenny Kravitz. Her first single ‘Nothing But Freedom’ – a tribute to the people of West Papua and those who today still break with the debt patterns of historical ties. Inspired by the song Mystery of Life by human rights activist Arnold Ap.

AS A CREATIVE STRATEGIST…
Carina’s specialty is understanding how different communities move and interact. Her strength is to translate within different worlds. She worked at Wieden + Kennedy on accounts such as Nike, Nike Kids Middle East, evian and Amazon Music. As a content creator she worked with the Rotterdam municipality with a content series about the Dutch colonial past. On her instagram she focusses on explaining political themes.

AS A CREATIVE PRODUCER…
She has been organising the Schiedamse Poetry Slam - a talent development stage for writers and poets since 2020. The first digital slam in the history the Dutch NK Poetry Slam. Her platform Verbalism (2015) focusses on connecting creatives.
